Y3&4 visited Flimby Church this morning as part of their RE lesson. They learnt about why people baptise their children/themselves and helped our governor, Ann, to baptise Sophia the doll using the font, holy water and the Paschal candle. Thank you to Ann for having us at church!

📢 Calling Local Businesses & Volunteers! 🌟
Our school is hoping to add two wooden sandpits and a small wooden stage to our playgrounds to make playtime even more fun, creative and exciting for our children.
If you're a local business, tradesperson, or volunteer with woodworking skills — or if you know someone who might be able to help — we’d love to hear from you! Materials or time donations would be hugely appreciated, and they would make a big difference to our pupils’ outdoor learning and play.
Please message or call the office if you can help or would like more information.
Thank you so much for supporting our school community!
Please feel free to share!

Y3&4 have had a fantastic day at Low Beckside Farm today! This morning, they got to experience life as a sheep farmer, helping to lay fresh bedding for the sheep, making sure they were well fed with hay and setting up some lambing pens for the farm’s newest arrivals! In the afternoon, the children learnt about different types of wool and how to clean and care for it, and found out all the different products that farmers actually help to make. Although it was a little soggy, everyone had a brilliant time! Thank you to The Ernest Cook Trust for having us!

Year 5 & 6 had a wonderful day at Low Beckside Farm as part of our work towards the Cumbrian Award. We became sheep‑care specialists for the day, enjoyed a walk and exploration of the farm and took part in the Wonders of Wool workshop. It was an amazing day, with some of the children saying they would love to become farmers when they are older and hope to return to Low Beckside for an apprenticeship.

More World Book Day Fun
As part of our World Book Day fun, our Reception and Year 5 and 6 children teamed up for a fantastic Drawing Club adventure! We shared the wonderfully spooky story The Hairy Toe before letting our imaginations run wild to create our very own monsters. There was lots of laughter, creativity, and excitement as the children sketched, shared ideas, and brought their creatures to life. They absolutely loved working together across year groups

World Book Day
What a busy week we had joining in with our World Book Day celebrations across the school! The children loved taking part in our Reading Bingo challenges, and we even made the most of the lovely weather by enjoying reading time outside.
If you would like to continue the Reading Bingo fun at home, the activity sheets are available on Seesaw. We’d love to see your reading adventures!
Year 1&2 enjoyed a morning of Julia Donaldson themed activities. The children enjoyed being creative creating wands for a witch, their own stickmen, a tower taller than a giant, masks for the Highway Rat & much more.

Our Mini Police were rewarded for their brilliant effort in handing out posters and leaflets to encourage parents to park responsibly and help keep everyone safe. Year 6 were also invited to join in the treat, which made the experience even more exciting for everyone. The children had the chance to explore the police car, try on real police uniform and equipment, and talk with the officers about what each piece of equipment is used for. They were absolutely fascinated and loved every moment.

Workington Fire Department Visit
Our EYFS children were very fortunate to enjoy an exciting visit from Workington Fire Department. The firefighters showed the children their equipment and talked about the important work they do in our community.
The children had a brilliant time trying on real firefighter uniform, sitting inside the fire engine, and even having a go at using the hose. Their faces lit up with excitement, and it was a wonderful hands‑on learning experience for everyone.
A huge thank you to the team at Workington Fire Department for giving our children such a memorable morning!
